BCB announces 17-man squad for Asia Cup, Sabbir returns

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced 17 members squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Sabbir Rahman has returned to the side after three years. 

Earlier, BCB made Shakib Al Hasan Bangladesh national cricket team T20 captain after much drama. Shakib will lead the Tigers in the T20 World Cup too, to be held in Australia between October 16 to November 13. 

There was rumored that Soumya Sarkar may return to the Asia Cup squad but BCB announced the squad leaving him out.

All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin also returned to the side after recovering from injury. Saifuddin last played for the national team in the T20 World Cup in October last year. After that, he did not play any match due to injury. 

Nurul Hasan Sohan who was made captain for the Zimbabwe tour made the cut for the Asia Cup squad despite injury problems.

There are five pacers in the squad - Mohammad Saifuddin, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadat Hossain, and Taskin Ahmed.

Bangladesh Asia Cup Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyad, Sheikh Mahedi, Mohammad Saifuddin, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Ebadat Hossain, Parvez Hossain Emon, Nurul Hasan and Taskin Ahmed.
