Bangladesh have been dealt a huge blow ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 after Nurul Hasan was officially ruled out of the multi-nation T20 tournament with a finger injury. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Monday (August 8) that Nurul underwent surgery and will take about four weeks to recover. Nurul is currently in Singapore and will return to Dhaka on Tuesday.

"A closed reduction and pinning procedure was performed on Sohan's left index finger by hand surgeon Dr Anthony Foo at the Raffles Hospital this afternoon. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks," BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said in a statement.

Nurul, who was appointed as the skipper of the T20 squad on the tour of Zimbabwe, suffered the injury during the second T20I of the three-match series in Harare. He was subsequently ruled out of the series.

Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have given BCB an extension to finalize their Asia Cup squad, the announcement delayed due to injury concerns.

Apart from Nurul, other players in the injury list include Liton Das (hamstring), Mustafizur Rahman (ankle), Mushfiqur Rahim (thumb) and Shoriful Islam (knee). Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin, who were ruled out from the tour of Zimbabwe, will also have to pass the fitness test for selection.
