Opener Tamim Iqbal reached a new milestone as a batter in ODI cricket. The dashing opener became the first Bangladeshi batsman to reach 8,000 runs in ODI.
He achieved the new landmark on his way to 88ball 62 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series against host Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Friday. Tamim reached this milestone by hitting Sikandar Raja for four in the 24th over. Tamim needed 57 runs to reach the record.
No other batsman in Bangladesh has scored seven thousand runs in ODIs. Naturally, Tamim entered this milestone first. The country's best opener was the first Bangladeshi batter to the 5000, 6000, and 7000 runs club.
After losing the toss, the Tigers got off to a great start with the bat thanks to two openers, Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das. They added 119 runs in 25.4 balls before Tamim got out for 62.
Liton Das also retired hurt scoring 81. Till this report, Bangladesh were 213/1 in 40 overs. Bijoy 43 and Mushfiqur 15 are in the batting.
