Bangladesh middle-order batsman Yasir Ali has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against host West Indies due to injury. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has said that he has withdrawn his name from the series.

Yasir suffered the back injury on the first day of a three-day warm-up match against the Cricket West Indies President's XI, which began in Antigua on June 10 before the Test series. The scan report also found problems in his spine.

The players are satisfied with the practice before the Test series even though the warm-up match ended in draw.

In a video released by the BCB, national team physio Bayezidul Islam said it would take two to three weeks to recover from such an injury. So he will not be able to play Test series.

The first Test of the two-match series will start on June 16 in Antigua and the second and final Test will start on June 24 in St. Lucia.

Yasir's ouster is a big blow for Bangladesh. He was considered as an alternative to Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle order. Mushfiqur has withdrawn from the West Indies tour due to the holy Hajj.

So far, Yasir has scored 198 runs in 5 Tests at an average of 24.50.
