Bangladesh to play warm match tonight, no Shakib

Bangladesh cricket team will play the only warm-up match against Cricket West Indies President's XI at night. However, newly elected Bangladesh Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan will miss the match.

Shakib is with his family in the United States on holiday. The left-arm all-rounder was due to join the team in Antigua on June 10. However, he will join the Test squad in Antigua on June 11 with an extra day off. That's why the Test Captain will miss the practice match.

Bangladesh last toured the Caribbean back in 2018. This time the visitors will play 3 T20Is as many ODIs and two Tests. The on-field battle between the two teams will be started on June 16 with first Test. Before that, Bangladesh team will play a 3-day warm-up match skipper Shakib Al Hasan will miss the match.

The Bangladesh team has confirmed that Shakib will leave the United States to join first Test venue in Antigua on June 11, even though the warm-up match started on June 10. In that case, he will not play in the first two days of the preparation match. As it is an unofficial warm-up match, he could be seen with the bat and ball on the last day of the match on June 12.

This is the only 3-day warm-up match for the Bangladesh team before the Test series. The members of the Test team reached Antigua in a few groups but did not get much opportunity to practice. 

Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque, Ebadat Hossain and Khaled Ahmedra batted and bowled one session on Thursday.

The warm-up match against the Cricket Winds President's XI will be held at the Antigua Coolidge Cricket Ground. The match is scheduled to start at 8 pm Bangladesh time.

The West Indies Cricket Board has announced a 12-member squad for the match. This team will be led by Yannic Cariah who captained the age-based team in Trinidad and Tobago and also led the Windies Emerging team.

Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Mominul Haque, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Liton Das, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Taijul Islam, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Ebadat Hossain Chowdhury, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Rezaur Rahman Raja, Mustafizur Rahman and Nurul Hasan Sohan.
