The First Test match against Sri Lanka will start on Monday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Even two days ago, it was not confirmed whether the name of Shakib Al Hasan will be found in the XI of this Test. However, it was finally reported that Bangladesh on Sunday will add the Shakib's name to the squad to play the Chattogram Test.
Tigers Test captain Muminul Haque confirmed the matter to media on Saturday. He said, 'Shakib will play InshaAllah.'
The Sri Lankan national cricket team arrived in Bangladesh on May 8 to play a two-match Test series. The first match of the series will start on May 15 while the second and last match will start on May 23.
The Bangladesh team started practice sessions in Chattogram on May 8 for the first match of this series. However, as he was on leave, Shakib was supposed to join the team on May 11.
However, he tested positive for coronavirus after returning from the United States on Monday (May 9). As per the COVID protocol, he was scheduled to be re-examined on May 15 after five days of isolation. However, the results of the test have been negative before the due date.
Shakib was ruled out of the first Test of the series as he had to stay in isolation for five days. But now the possibility of playing in the first match has been created anew.
According to the information provided by the board, Shakib Al Hasan will be available in the first Test on May 15 if he is physically fit to play the match. He joined the team on Friday and started batting practice today. Seeing his batting style, the team management seemed positive.
Muminul was saying, it seemed to me that his batting was good. He will play InshaAllah.
