Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Australian star Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a hip injury. Meanwhile, the Aussie Test captain has come out of KKR’s bio bubble.
Cummins’ hip injury, however, is not too serious. The Australian Test captain will recover after a two-week break. As a result, Cummins is scheduled to be seen on the next tour of Sri Lanka for the national team.
Although the Aussie board, Cricket Australia, has no plans to land Cummins in the T20 series against the Lankans, the 29-year-old pacer will be seen in ODIs and Tests. Losing Cummins in the middle of the IPL is a disappointment for KKR.
Pat Cummins was dropped for off-form after playing four consecutive matches for KKR. However, in the last match against Mumbai, the pacer, who got Rs 7.5 crore in the IPL this time, made a great contribution to the team’s victory by taking 3 wickets for only 22 runs.
Besides, in another match against Mumbai Indians, Pat Cummins won the team by hitting the fastest 50 in 14 balls. KKR is now placed in the seventh position with 10 points from 5 wins in 12 matches.
Cummins, who was knocked out of the IPL, will play a full series in Sri Lanka in June. Besides the three-match T20, Australia will play five-match ODIs and two Tests. Cummins is likely to be seen in ODIs and Tests.
