Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was named in Bangladesh's 16-member Test squad, announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today ahead of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting from May 15 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram.

Opener Shadman Islam and pacer Taskin Ahmed have been dropped from the previous squad that played in South Africa.

Shadman Islam has been left out due to off form while fast bowler Taskin did not called up due to injury. The pacer suffered shoulder pain on the second day of the Durban Test against South Africa. Although he bowled in that innings, Taskin had to leave the field for a long time later. There are rumors that he may be sent to England for treatment.

Rejaur Rahman Raja has been called up as replacement of Taskin. However, this is not the first time he has been called. He had been called up to the Test team before.

Abu Zayed Rahi has been dropped from the fast bowlers without playing any match. Shoriful's participation is still hanging over the fitness test. He will be seen against the Lankans at home if he can pass the fitness test.

Bangladesh's 16-member Test squad:

Mominul Haque (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Taijul Islam, Mehydi Hasan Miraz, Ebadat Hossain, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Rezaur Rahman Reza, Shohidul Islam, Shoriful Islam *.
