Former India opener and Lok Sabha member from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir has been infected with Coronavirus. He took Twitter to inform the news saying that he has been experiencing mild symptoms.

"After experiencing mild symptoms, I tested positive for Covid today. Requesting everyone who came into my contact to get themselves tested," the cricketer-turned-politician tweeted.

Gambhir who captain Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL has joined the Lucknow team as a mentor this year. Lucknow team owner Sanjeev Goenka said their team name is Lucknow Super Giants. Earlier, when he was the owner of Pune team, Sanjeev's team name was Rising Pune Super Giants.

Gambhir is now in quarantine at home after being tested positive for corona. Quarantine, of course, is nothing new to him. In November last year, he was in quarantine after a family member contracted coronavirus.

Gautam, 40, called time on from international cricket in 2018. He played 58 Tests,148 ODIs, and 37 T20Is for India.

He scored 5,238 runs in 147 ODIs at an average of 39.68, with 11 centuries and 34 fifties. He had huge contribution to India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup win.
