Khulna beat Dhaka for a winning start in BPL

Khulna Tigers made a good start to the eighth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), edging Chattogram Challengers past by six wickets in a low-scoring affair at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Although the Mirpur wicket was typically slow and low and Khulna captain Mushfiqur Rahim didn't hesitate to put Minister Dhaka into batting once he won the toss.

Batting first Dhaka post a decent total of 183/6 in 20 overs. Opener Tamim Iqbal scored team highest 50 off 42 while another opener Mohammad Shahzad made fiery 27-ball 42 and skipper Mahmudullah Riyad scored 39 off 20.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi was the top wicket taker for Khulna with 3 for 45 in his 4 overs. 

In reply, Khulna lost opener Tanzid Hasan (2) in the second over. Andre Fletcher (45 off 23) and Rony Talukdar (61 off 42) keep Khulna Tigers in the competition. They added 72 runs for the second wickets stand before the former went out to Russell. 

Thisara Perera's 36 off 18 and Yasir Ali's 13 off 15 and Mahedi Hasan's 12 off 5 helped Khulna to seal five wickets with six balls to spare.

Ebadot Hossain and Andre Russell took two wickets each for Minster Group Dhaka.
