Coronavirus hit Khulna Tigers team ahead of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2022 which is slated to be started from January 21. Khulna Tigers star cricketer Soumya Sarkar has tested positive for coronavirus ahead of the tournament.

With a lot of uncertainty and fear in the corona epidemic, arrangements are being made to roll the BPL on the field. There is not even 72 hours left to start the field fight. But at such a time, more than one cricketer has tested positive for coronavirus.

This news is definitely a big shock for the Khulna franchise. However, corona-positive players will now go into isolation and the rest will enter the biosecurity zone. The Covid positive cricketers will be able to join the team again subject to recovery from Covid-19.

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source has confirmed that a total of four to five cricketers tested positive for corona in the PCR test before entering the bio-bubble zone. Although the names of all of them are not known, it has been confirmed that they are Soumya Sarkar who was roped in by Khulna Tigers in the upcoming BPL.

Khulna will play their first match on the opening day, against Minister Dhaka in the evening on January 21. In the day's first match, Chattogram Challengers will take on Fortune Barishal at noon.
