Bangabandhu Marathon begins

Marking the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's homecoming day, "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2022" has begun on Monday. 

The marathon started from Army Stadium at 05:30 am and will be ended in Hatirjheel Amphitheatre after passing through Banani- Kamal Ataturk Avenue-Gulshan-1, Gulshan 2 and Police Plaza area. 

A total of 200 local and foreign runners from different countries including Morocco, Kenya, Mexico, Ukraine, Ethiopia, France, Spain, Italy and Latvia will participate in the Marathon, with 100 in the full marathon and 100 in the half marathon. 

Around 30 runners will participate from SAFF countries including India, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka. 

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was present as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Marathon this morning and State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell was the special guest. The winners will be awarded at noon at the end of the competition.
