Shakib returns home to play for Central Zone in BCL

Bangladesh National Cricket Team’s star player Shakib Al Hasan did not go to New Zealand with the squad due to family reasons. He went to his family in the United States shortly after the Pakistan series. The Tiger all-rounder returned home on Thursday from the United States.
Earlier, it was reported that Shakib Al Hasan will play for Walton Central Zone in the one-day edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). He expressed his interest in playing in the one-day format of BCL on his own. Central Zone then added him to the squad.
The BCL tournament is going to start after four days. Shakib has returned to the country from the United States to play in this tournament. After BCL, this all-rounder will play for Barishal Fortune in BPL which will start from January 21.
The BCL matches will be held in a single-league system in Sylhet. The matches will be played on January 9, 11 and 13 in Sylhet’s two grounds. The venue of the final on January 15 has not been decided yet. Each match will be held on the day.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the longest version of cricket, will end today. The trophy battle between Walton Central and BCB South Zone has been underway at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on the last day of the final which started on January 2.
It is yet to be decided when Shakib will join the team. Central manager Milton Ahmed said, “Shakib arrived in the country this morning. Talked to us. He will announce soon when he will join the team.”
