New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will miss the two-match Test series against visiting Bangladesh starting on January 1 next year due to an elbow injury. The injury rules him out of the field for 2 months.

Williamson received the elbow injury during the second leg of the IPL in the United Arab Emirates. He injured his elbow once more in the last T20 World Cup.

Williamson played the first Test of the series against India in Kanpur with an injury. But one of the best batsmen of the time could not play in the second Test of the series in Mumbai.

The physio then told the test team that Williamson would have to rest due to the injury. And New Zealand coach Gary Steed said there was no need for surgery right now. He must rest for at least two months.

Williamson will miss the ODI and T20 series against Australia at the end of January. However, Kane is expected to return to the field with a Test series against South Africa at home in mid-February.
