After Bayern Munich, now six players and coaching staff of RB Leipzig in Bundesliga have tested positive for the Covid-19, the club confirmed in a statement.
Striker Yussuf Poulsen is one of the victims. Earlier, six Bayern Munich players went to quarantine after being contracted Covid-19.
Due to the Covid-19 situation, Leipzig will retrograde in the league’s home match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Sunday. If they win the match, Leipzig will have a chance to move up to the top six with 21 points equal to fourth-placed Leverkusen.
Coach Jesse Marsch and goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi were in quarantine after being infected with Covid-19 last week. On Friday, the club confirmed that two staff and including Poulsen, Willi Orban, Hugo Novoa and Mohamed Simakan had tested positive.
Six of the newly infected have been sent home to quarantine. The Bundesliga authorities have already decided to arrange the matches in a spectator-free stadium due to the recent rise of the COVID case in Leipzig.
