This is the first time Namibia has come to play in the T20 World Cup. The team got a taste of defeat in their first match against Sri Lanka. However, the African nation registered their first victory over the Netherlands in their second match thanks to David Wiese's fifty.

Batting first, the Netherlands scored 164 runs for 4 wickets in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Namibia chased down the target losing 4 wickets and 6 balls to left.

Stephen Bird and Jane Green opened the innings for Namibia. Green scored 15 runs before being bowled by Fred Klaassen. After that Bird 19 and Craig Williams returned for 11 runs left Namibia under pressure. They still needed 113 runs from 70 balls.

Former South African cricketer David Wiese became the savior of Namibia at that time. As soon as he got down to the crease, he kept hitting four-sixes one after another.

Wiese's previous best score was 28 runs for the national team. However, today he introduced himself in a new form. He completed his half-century from 29 balls. He had an important 93-run partnership with captain Jarhard Erasmus before Erasmus out for 32.

In the end, Wiese left the field after completing victory for Namibia. He scored team highest 66 off 40. Smith was unbeaten on 14 runs. Fred Klaassen, Colin Ackerman, Van der Gagten and Peter Seeler took one wicket each for the Netherlands.

Earlier, Namibian captain Erasmus decided to field after winning the toss at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi ‍and post 164/4 thanks to opener Max O'Dowd's 70 and Colin Ackermann's 32.
