BNP expels Taimur, ATM Kamal

Defeated Narayanganj mayoral candidate and former district BNP convener Taimur Alam Khandaker and Narayanganj metropolitan BNP general secretary ATM Kamal have been expelled from the party.
The expulsion was made in a letter signed by BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday night.
The letter states “in view of the clear allegations of being involved in anti-party activities, you have been expelled from all the posts including the primary member post of the party in accordance with the constitution of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). This decision will take effect immediately”.
ATM Kamal was the chief election agent of Taimur Alam Khandaker. Confirming the matter, Narayanganj metropolitan organizing secretary Abdus Sabur Khan Sentu said the party had “expelled” ATM Kamal from all BNP posts and general membership posts. Instead, he has been given the responsibility of “acting editor”.
It is learned that Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker took part in the election of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) held on January 18 by disobeying the party decision. Independent candidate BNP leader Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker has lost the election to Awami League candidate Selina Hayat Ivy.
Taimur Alam Khandaker was removed from the post of district BNP convener after submitting nomination papers for the election. Monirul Islam Robi was given the responsibility of acting convener.
Noted that Taimur Alam Khandaker was removed from the post of advisor to the BNP chairperson on January 3.
