Three new faces in AL presidium body

Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, a member of the executive committee, Advocate Kamrul Islam, former food minister, and Khairuzzaman Liton, the mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation have been made new presidium members of Awami League.

The announcement was made at a meeting of the Awami League's central executive committee at the Prime Minister's official residence Ganabhaban on Friday, with party president Sheikh Hasina in chair.

The presidium is the highest policy-making forum of 19 people, including the president and general secretary of the Awami League. 

A total of 17 men were included in the previously announced committee in 2019. They are Sajeda Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Nasim, Kazi Zafar Ullah, Sahara Khatun, Mosharraf Hossain, Piyush Kanti Bhattacharya, Nurul Islam Nahid, Abdur Razzak, Muhammad Farooq Khan, Ramesh Chandra Sen, Abdul Mannan, Matin Khasru, Shahjahan Khan, Abdur Rahman and Jahangir Kabir Nanak.

Of them, Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru died of corona on April 14 this year, Mohammad Nasim, died on June 13, 2020, and Sahara Khatun died on July 9, 2020.

Note that the 22nd National Council of the party will be held in December next year.
