The fire service has recovered the bodies of 6 people after extinguishing the fire in the plastic godown in Chawkbazar in the capital.
The bodies were recovered while immediately searching the spot when the fire came under control after 2:30 pm on Monday.
Initially, their identity was not known.
Shahjahan Sikder, media wing officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense, confirmed this information.
“So far, we have searched the second floor, third floor and fourth floor of the building and recovered the bodies of 6 people,” he said, adding that searches are still being conducted in various rooms of the building.
A four-storey building caught fire due to the explosion of a gas cylinder in a hotel in the capital’s Chawkbazar at around 12 pm Monday.
Later, the fire spread to the entire building. Although the fire started from the building’s hotel, it spread to the plastic factory on the fourth-floor of the building. 10 units of fire service were able to bring the fire under control in about two and a half hours.
