Rainfall activity in the country is likely to increase within 72 hours or three days, forecasted Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the country’s Met Office, in a weather bulletin issued today.

The weather bulletin issued on Friday states that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Besides, light to moderate rain is likely to take place at a few places over Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi & Mymensingh divisions with “moderately heavy falls” at places over the southern part of Bangladesh, the Met Office also predicted.

“Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country,” the BMD office said in the bulletin, mentioning that day temperature may “rise slightly over southern part” and is likely to remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country.

Meanwhile, BMD deputy director Meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman said in the Synoptic Situation of the weather bulletin that the low-pressure area over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area “merged with the monsoon axis”. For this, the axis of the monsoon trough has been running through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh.

“One of its associated troughs has extended upto Northwest Bay,” he also said, adding that the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 36.0°C yesterday at Sayedpur in the Rangpur division and in the Sylhet district while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 24.0°C at Rangamati in the Chattogram division.

Today’s sunset will be at 6:34 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:33 am.
