Jail-fine for manufacturing drugs without license

The cabinet has given approval in principle to the draft 'Drugs Act, 2022', providing for 10 years imprisonment or a fine of Tk 10 lakh or both for adulterated and unlicensed production of drugs.
This approval was given in a virtual cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday. The Prime Minister joined the meeting through a video conference from Ganabhaban while the Ministers of State joined the meeting from the Secretariat.
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam came up with this information in a press briefing at the secretariat after the meeting.
He said that the draft law state how will the administration of drugs be, and the rules for granting licenses for selling and importing drugs have been mentioned. The draft law also lays down the punishment for anyone who violates the license conditions.
Besides, the draft of 'The State Acquisition and Tenancy (Amendment) Act, 2022' and 'National Industrial Policy, 2022' has been approved in the cabinet meeting.
