Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazaar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no three as the well-marked low over Northwest Bay off Odisha coast and adjoining area intensified into a depression.
The depression is likely to move Northwestwards further. Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime post, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a warning message on Tuesday.
“All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice,” it added.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to take place at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with “moderately heavy to heavy falls” at places over the country, said another BMD bulletin valid for 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am on Tuesday.
As an outlook for the next 72 hours, the Met Office predicted: “Rain or thundershowers activity is likely to continue.”
