Light to moderate rain likely

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9 am.  

According to the weather forecast which was issued by the BMD, country Met office, on Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to take place at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with “moderately heavy to heavy falls” at places over the country.

Besides, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.

The weather bulletin states that the wind direction in Dhaka will be (10-15) kph Southeast or Easterly with a speed of temporary gusting to 30-40 kph.

Meanwhile, BMD deputy director Md. Monowar Hossain said in the synoptic situation of the weather bulletin that the well-marked low over Northwest Bay off Odisha-West Bengal coast has lied over Coastal areas of Odisha and adjoining Northwest Bay. “It is likely to intensify,” he also said.

He added that the axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, the center of the well-marked low to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. As a result, the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 35.8°C yesterday at Sayedpur in the Rangpur division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 23.7°C at Netrokona in the Mymensingh division.
