Fazle Rabbi Miah’s Namaz-e-Janaza held, body taken to Gaibandha

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Deputy Speaker and Gaibandha-5 Constituency MP Advocate Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah’s Namaz-e-Janaza has been completed.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at 10:45 am on Monday with the participation of thousands of people. It was led by Imam Abu Saleh Md. Salimullah of the Supreme Court Jame Masjid.
Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak, Fisheries and Animal Resources Minister SM Rezaul Karim, members of the Cabinet Division, judges of the Appellate and High Court Division, leaders of various political parties including Awami League took part in the Namaz-e-Janaza.
Meanwhile, The body of JS Deputy Speaker and MP of Gaibandha-5 Constituency MP Advocate Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah arrived at his birthplace Saghata upazila in Gaibandha from Dhaka.
The helicopter carrying the body landed on the Bonarpara Kazi Azahar Ali High School grounds of the upazila at 1:32 pm on Monday.
After that, his body will be kept at the Bharatkhali High School grounds for public homage. After his second Namaz-e-Janaza there at 3 pm, the body will be taken to his home in Gatia village.
Advocate Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah will be buried in the family cemetery in a state manner after the last Namaz-e-Janaza at 5:30 pm.
Earlier, The body of Deputy Speaker Advocate Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning.
An Emirates flight carrying his body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 8:40 am after departing from New York in the United States at 11 pm on Sunday, Rabbi’s public relations officer Swapan Kumar Biswas told the media.
Before this, his first namaz-e-janaza was held at the Muslim Center of Jamaica in New York after Zuhr prayers on Sunday.
On Friday (July 22), Deputy Speaker Advocate Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah died while undergoing treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He was suffering from cancer for a long time.
This MP of Gaibandha-5 Constituency was born on April 15, 1946, at Gatia village of Saghata upazila in the Gaibandha district. His father’s name was Faizar Rahman and mother’s name was Hamidun Necha.
During the Great Liberation War, Fazle Rabbi Miah fought in Sector-11. Besides, he worked to build global public opinion in favor of the Independence of Bangladesh.
He was elected MP as a candidate of Bangladesh Awami League from Gaibandha-5 constituency in the 2008 ninth, 2014 tenth and 2018 eleventh national parliament elections.
