7 killed in Cumilla, Gazipur road accidents

Seven people, including a child, were killed in separate road accidents in Cumilla and Gazipur. Several others were injured in the incidents.
The accidents took place at Gauripur in Cumilla’s Daudkandi and Kapasia in Gazipur on Saturday morning.
Daudkandi Highway Police Station SI Md. Salauddin said the Dhaka-bound Al Baraka bus from Lakshmipur reached the Gauripur area in Cumilla’s Daudkandi on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at around 10:30 am. At that time, a motorcycle suddenly came in front of the bus. The driver lost control when he tried to side the bus to save the motorcycle. At that time, the bus crushed the motorcycle and fell on the side of the road. All three motorcyclists died at that time.
Meanwhile, three passengers of a CNG-powered autorickshaw were killed when a bus hit them at Kapasia in Gazipur. Two more were injured at the time.
Kapasia Police Station OC (officer-in-charge) AFM Nasim said a Dhaka-bound bus hit a CNG-powered autorickshaw heading to Kishoreganj in the Chewright area on Rajendrapur-Tok road in the upazila at 8:30 am. Five passengers in the autorickshaw were seriously injured. The injured were shifted to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital (STAMC) – the doctors declared the three dead.
STAMC Medical Officer (RMO) Rafiqul Islam said two were killed and two were rushed to hospital in the morning. Another died later while undergoing treatment. The rest are being treated at the hospital.
Police officials said the identities of the dead were not yet known.
