Road Transport and Highways Division has imposed restrictions on motorcycles movement from one district to another for seven days before and after Eid-ul-Azha. Motorcyclists are leaving Dhaka earlier for this reason.

Speaking to motorcyclists in Capital's Gabtali on Wednesday, it was learned that many could not collect bus or train tickets, while others were leaving on motorcycles to avoid the extra cost.

One motorcyclist said, "Traveling by bus or train is costlier. So I am going home with my wife and children on a motorcycle in advance as restrictions on motorcycles will come into effect from tomorrow."

Another Rajshahi-bound motorcyclist said, "I did not get a train ticket despite standing in the line. Motorcycle journey is much more comfortable than bus journey. For this reason, I left for home on a motorcycle ahead of Eid-ul-Azha."

Another motorcyclist from Chuadanga said, "I am not riding motorcycle as a hobby. I have been riding a motorcycle for 10 years as a profession. I am riding a motorcycle at a safe speed according to the rules. Bus owners have stopped motorcycles on the highway because they are not getting passengers on Eid."
