Motorcycles not to be allowed outside registered district from Thurs

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) issued an urgent notification that motorcycles registered in one district will not be allowed to run in other districts on the highways from Thursday to facilitate the movement of passengers on the holy Eid-ul-Azha. 

Besides, motorcycle ride-sharing will also remain restricted. 

BRTA send an emergency release to the media regarding restricting or stopping the movement of motorcycles on Wednesday. 

According to the release, for ensuring safe and unhampered journey during Eid, motorcycles will not be allowed to ply on highways without legitimate reason for a week (July 7 to 13) from three days ahead of Eid till three days after it and ride-sharing will also remain restricted outside approved areas. 

Motorcycles will not be allowed outside their registered district but for inevitable necessities they can drive after taking permission from the highway police or district police of the area concerned. 

At the same time, trucks, lorries and covered vans will also remain banned on the highways during the period except those carrying essential commodities, raw material, medicine, fuel, RMG and export goods, perishable items and sacrificial animals.
