People are leaving the capital to share the joy of Eid with their relatives on the second day of Eid journey. The crowd of Eid homebound people at Dhaka’s Kamalapur railway station has been increasing since morning.
It was seen at Kamalapur station on Wednesday morning that every train was “fully packed” with passengers.
According to the railway authorities, the Rangpur Express left 50 minutes late on Wednesday morning, however, most trains left on time. Homebound passengers are happy that the train left at the scheduled time.
Most of the trains on Dhaka, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Chattogram, Kishoreganj and Mymensingh routes have left on time.
Some passengers of ‘Kishoreganj Express’ said they managed to get the tickets with a lot of effort. It feels good that the trains are leaving on time now.
Kamalapur railway station manager Masud Sarwar said all preparations have been made for the trains to leave the station on time. Several Dhaka-bound trains have been canceled at the airport station to “prevent schedule disruptions”.
He said it has been decided not to stop the seven trains leaving the northern region from July 6 to July 9 at the airport station. Dhaka-bound Ekta, Drutajan, Panchagarh, Nilsagor, Kurigram, Lalmoni and Rangpur Express will not stop at the airport station.
However, trains leaving Dhaka will stop at the airport station as usual. Besides, Mitali Express will not run from July 6 to 14 and Maitree Express and Bandhan Express will not run from July 7 to 14.
