Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam said a 10-day drone operation will be launched from Saturday (July 2nd) to find the source of the mosquitoes.
He said this while inspecting the mosquito source identification activities with the help of drones in Sector 4, Uttara, in the capital on Thursday.
Mayor Atik said that from July 2 to 11, a combing operation will be conducted in every house under Dhaka North to find out the source of mosquitoes through sophisticated drones.
He added that the city corporation would create a database of mosquito larvae found in houses with data taken from drones. Which they will use next year.
He called upon the health department, hospitals in the capital and patients to provide accurate information about dengue.
Mayor Atiqul said, "I would especially request the dengue victims to give you the correct address. We will not fine you. We will just go to that house and sprinkle mosquito repellent around. But if you give wrong information then we will not be able to carry out mosquito control activities properly."
The mayor said they would use a tablet called novaliuron in the water meters of ponds and homes - which would control mosquito births in water for up to three months.
Brigadier General Jobaidur Rahman, Chief Health Officer of DNCC and many others were present.
