40,200 Hajj pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia

A total of 40,200 pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh so far to perform Holly Hajj this year, said a daily bulletin related to the annual Islamic pilgrimage on Sunday night. 

A total of 112 flights carried the pilgrims to their destination, including 64 flights from Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 43 flights from Saudi Airlines, and five flights from Flynas Airlines. 

Out of these pilgrims, 3,385 are under government management and 36,815 are under private management. 

Meanwhile, six Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far. Four of them are men while the rest two are women. 

The holy Hajj is set to be held in Saudi Arabia on July 8 (Zilhaj 9) subject to the sighting of the moon. The flight of Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia started on June 5. The last Hajj flight from Dhaka will leave on July 4. 

A total of 128 flights will be operated from Bangladesh for Hajj. Biman will carry Hajj passengers on 65 flights, Saudia on 51 flights and Flynas on 12 flights.
