State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman said the water level in flood-hit areas of the country will start receding from next Tuesday. He said the flood situation in Sylhet has improved a bit, but the situation in Habiganj and Moulvibazar districts has deteriorated.

The state minister made the remarks while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday.

The state minister for relief said 70 upazilas in 12 districts of the country are currently inundated. Six new upazilas have been flooded. Besides, two deaths have been reported. One of the SSC candidates was swept away by the current while an elderly man died of electrocution.

He added that the flood situation in Sylhet has slightly improved. However, it remains unchanged in Sunamganj. At the same time, the flood situation has been deteriorated in Habiganj and Moulvibazar. According to the Meteorological Department and the Flood Forecasting and Warning Department rainfall may reduce after Monday and water will start receding from Tuesday. Although the flood situation in the north has improved at this time, it may deteriorate downstream.
