DSHE directs authorities to use schools, colleges as flood shelters

Derectorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to use the nearest educational institution as a temporary shelter in collaboration with the flood-affected people.
The directive was issued in a circular signed by DSHE Director General Professor Nehal Ahmed on Saturday.
The circular state that in order to provide safe shelter to the flood-affected people in the flood-hit areas, it was requested to take necessary steps to use the nearby educational institutions as temporary shelters.
For the last five days, entire Sunamganj district, Kompaniganj, Gowainghat, Jaintapur, Kanaighat, Zakiganj, Sylhet Sadar Dakshin Surma of Sylhet district have been flooded and life has become miserable. There is no news of those areas being without electricity for the last few days.
According to Sylhet district administration sources, a 35-member navy diving team has started the rescue operation from Saturday morning. In the afternoon, another large group of 60 people joined the rescue work.
