Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said the present government is working towards building a balanced and integrated communication system. Efforts are being made to build communication systems by coordinating roads, railways, waterways, and airways.

He said this while inspecting the development activities of Narayanganj railway station area under the project titled Construction of a dual gauge railway line parallel to the existing meter gauge railway line in Dhaka-Narayanganj section on Monday.

The Railway Minister said that similar development activities are being carried out in Narayanganj like railways, and many projects of waterways and roads are also centered in Narayanganj. Besides, there are many projects including construction of roads and bridges under the municipality. A new railway station and the platform are being constructed along with the Narayanganj river port. We are here to see the differences between the two organizations.

He said development is not possible without building an integrated communication system and land will be used as needed.

In this case, it is important to have coordination among themselves, he said.

Nurul Islam Sujan said there was no coordination between the various agencies due to the wrong policies of the previous governments. At one time goods were transported by train from Kolkata to Goalanda Ghat. We were then dependent on each other. Now rail communication is being connected on Padma river. The second Bangabandhu railway bridge is being built over the river Jamuna. The railway system has already come a long way.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Bangladesh Railway Director General Dhirendra Nath Majumder, Bangladesh Railway Eastern General Manager Jahangir Hossain and other senior officials involved in the project were present.
