Heat wave likely to sweep over country’s south-western part

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Saturday predicted that a mild heat wave may sweep at places over south-western part of the country.  

The Met Office also forecasted that many places over the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind in the next 24 hours as of 9:00 am tomorrow.  

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over northern part of the country," said a met office bulletin issued this morning. 

Besides, day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the
country, the release added. 

Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded at 36.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Khulna and Chuadanga while minimum temperature today was 21.5 degrees Celsius at Dimla in the Rangpur division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded at 146 mm at Rajarhat in the Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:45 pm today and rises at 5:10 am tomorrow in the capital.
