WB to provide Tk255 crore food aid to Rohingyas: Enamur

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md. Enamur Rahman has said that World Bank will provide a grant of Tk255 crore as food aid to the forcibly displaced Rohingya from Myanmar in Teknaf and Ukhia in Cox's Bazar.
He was speaking to reporters after signing an agreement between the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and the WFP (World Food Program) at the ministry's conference room on Sunday.
Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Kamrul Hassan on behalf of the ministry and country director Jeans Pierce on behalf of the WFP signed the agreement. Senior officials from the ministry and the WFP were present at the time.
The state minister said that under the agreement, WFP would provide food assistance to Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar through the Safety Net System for the Poorest project. The project will be funded by the World Bank.
He added that the project would provide nutrition education to women, help children under the age of five in health centers, provide materials and training in vegetable gardening, plant and preserve trees, preserve mountain slopes, clean roads and sewers and engage in anti-social activities. Various awareness activities will be taken to stop it.
