Light to moderate rainfall likely across country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9 am.
According to the weather forecast by the country’s Met Office, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at many places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions and at a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.
Besides, day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period, the weather bulletin also said.
Meanwhile, Kh. Hafizur Rahman, deputy director of BMD, said in the weather forecast that a trough of low has extended from Bihar to Northwest Bay across Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area. For this, the Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chattogram and Sylhet division. As a result, the conditions are favorable for further advancement of the Southwest monsoon.
He added that the southwest monsoon likely to advance further in the next 72 hours or within three days.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 36.2°C yesterday in the Rajshahi district while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 23.5°C at Kumarkhali in the Khulna division.
Besides, the country’s rainfall for the last 24 hours was recorded at 67 mm in Sylhet district.
Today’s sunset will be at 6:43 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:11 am.
