This year, Nadia Samdani of Bangladeshi descent has been named on the list of the third-highest honorary members of the British royal family — the Most Excellent Order-MBE.
This information has been revealed in a report on the British government website and PR Newswire.
Nadia Samdani, a co-founder of the Samdani Art Foundation, is being honored in recognition of her patronage of art in South Asia and the United Kingdom, including Bangladesh, on the occasion of Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday.
Through her efforts and Samdani Art Foundation, Nadia is showcasing the works of contemporary Bangladeshi painters in the country and abroad. Their works have found a place in various government institutions and museums at the international level.
The goal of the Samdani Art Foundation is to make art accessible to all, to bridge the gap between local and international art, and engage the local people in the painting.
Nadia Samdani is also the co-founder of Dhaka Art Summit. The exhibition attracts the largest number of visitors in the world. In 2020, the summit received 477,000 visitors. Next year, Dhaka Art Summit will celebrate its tenth anniversary.
