Rainfall activity is likely to increase in the next 72 hours or within three days, forecasted Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today.

The country’s Met Office, BMD, forecasted in the weather bulletin issued on Friday that rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions.

Besides, the mild heatwave that is sweeping over the districts of Pabna, Chuadanga, Khulna, Patuakahli and Bagerhat is likely to abate from some places, the weather bulletin also said.

“Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period,” it added.

The weather bulletin, signed by BMD deputy director Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Hoque, stated that a trough of low has extended from Bihar to North Bay across West Bengal and the Southwestern part of Bangladesh persists.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 37.2°C yesterday at Mongla in the Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 22.4°C in the Rajshahi district.

The maximum rainfall, in the 24 hours, in the country was recorded at 54mm in Rangamati in the Chattogram division.

Today’s sunset will be at 6:40 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:12 am.
