State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haq Khan Dulal today said the cost of Hajj has increased this year. The amount has been increased by Tk 59,000 more than the earlier fixed amount.

“The additional money has to be paid by May 30,” he said.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haq Khan Dulal told reporters after a meeting on Thursday afternoon.

Around Tk 527,340 per person was fixed under package-1 of government management. Under package-2, it was fixed at Tk 462,150. An additional of Tk 59,000 will be added with these two packages under government management.

Besides, in private management, with an additional of Tk 59,000 with Tk 463,744, the total cost will be Tk 512,744.

Informing that the government would issue a notification on May 28, 29 and 30 to receive the money, the State Minister said a letter has been sent for this to Bangladesh Bank to “keep the scheduled banks open next Saturday”.

The Hajj Pilgrims will deposit the money through pay-order in favor of the Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs at Sonali Bank’s local office branch, Motijheel, Dhaka, on 0002633000908 to the Director of Hajj Office, Dhaka by May 30, 2022. For this, special booths have been set up at Hajj Office, Ashkona, Dhaka.

Besides, the pilgrims under private management will deposit the same amount in the banks of their respective agencies.

The State Minister said if any additional charges were imposed by the Royal Saudi government after the announcement of the package, it would be considered as a “package price” and the pilgrims would have to pay. The Hajj package was announced on May 11 on the condition that “if any money is not spent, it will be returned to the pilgrims”.

Faridul Haq Khan Dulal said the Hajj flight will start on June 5 and end on July 3. The return flight will start on July 14 and end on August 14.
