Ongoing heat wave likely to continue in 8 districts

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted that the ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue in eight districts in the next 24 hours commencing 9:00 am today.
"Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Madaripur, Tangail, Chandpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Satkhira, Jashore and Bagerhat and it may continue," said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin.
The Met Office also forecasted rain or thunder showers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind at many places over the country during the period.
"Rain or thunder showers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Chattogram division and at one or two places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over north northeastern part of the country," the bulletin said.
Besides, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
As an outlook for next 72 hours, the BMD predicted: "Rainor thunder showers activity may increase."
Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 37.2 degrees Celsius at Khulna while the minimum temperature today was recorded 21.0 degrees Celsius at Sylhet.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded 104 mm at Srimangal.
The sun sets at 6:36 pm today and rises at 5:14 am tomorrow in the capital.
