Khulna City Mayor flies to Singapore for better treatment

Khulna City Corporation Mayor and Metropolitan Awami League President Talukder Abdul Khaleq has left Dhaka for Singapore for advanced treatment. 

A flight of Bangladesh Biman carrying him left Dhaka at 8:35 am on Thursday. He is expected to be treated at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

The mayor is accompanied by his wife Begum Habibun Nahar, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; niece Sumaiya Sultana Meghla and her son-in-law Moinul Islam.

Md Redwan Maruf, the personal assistant to the Deputy Minister, said that physical condition of the mayor has been much well than before. 

It has been reported that Talukdar Abdul Khaleq had been undergoing treatment at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) since last May 8. Earlier on May 7, he was admitted to Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital in Khulna with high fever. The next day he was transferred to Dhaka. 

The city mayor was already suffering from heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. He underwent surgery on his prostate gland last year. Now, he has been suffering from various problems including infection at the place of surgery.
