State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman today said a concerted effort was needed so that the Rohingyas can return to their homeland Myanmar in the future.

He made the remarks while briefing reporters on the cyclone situation at the Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday.

The State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief said USAID was satisfied with the Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar. They have some observations about Bhasan Char. They have been informed about all the updates. The delegation wanted a separate building to work in Cox’s Bazar. They have been asked to set up their own office at the Refugee Commission.

He said a list of 35,000 Rohingyas had been given to Myanmar. However, the country did not respond to anything.

Describing the cyclone situation, the State Minister said the cyclone “Asani” has “weakened”, and turned to “depression” after hitting Andhra Pradesh, India. There is no fear of it being hit in Bangladesh.
