Engineers must contribute to country`s sustainable dev: President

President M Abdul Hamid today called on the engineers to contribute to the sustainable development of the country by applying the acquired knowledge and skills.
He made the call in a message on Friday on the occasion of the 74th founding anniversary of Engineers Institution, Bangladesh (IEB) and 'Engineers' Day'.
The President conveyed his best wishes and congratulations to all the engineers of the country on the occasion of IEB's founding anniversary and 'Engineers' Day'. Abdul Hamid said the role of engineers in the technological and infrastructural development of the country is immense. IEB is playing a commendable role in the socio-economic development of the country through development of engineering education, quality control, development of professional skills of engineers, higher engineering education and research.
He said that every step of the implementation of the national development plan involves the intellect and hard work of the engineers.
Citing the overall development is impossible without the development of technology and engineering knowledge, the President said, "Engineering education is constantly changing with the passage of time. Adding new innovations and knowledge. In order to keep pace with the world, the engineers of the country must be aware of the latest knowledge and technology in engineering and technology."
The President said that IEB will continue its efforts to build a skilled human resource with technological knowledge for the sustainable development of the country.
M Abdul Hamid said the government has announced 'Vision-2021' to make Bangladesh a developed and prosperous country. Delta Plan-2100 has been formulated. Mega projects like Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Rooppur Nuclear Power Station, Payra Deep Seaport and Karnafuli Tunnel are being implemented.
He said that there is an opportunity for engineers to make huge contribution as skilled human resources in the implementation of these master plans of the government.
