Rain or thundershowers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9 am.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said this in a weather bulletin, signed by the country’s Met Office deputy director Meteorologist Md. Tariful Newaz Kabir, on Monday.

According to the Met Office, rain or thundershowers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Day temperature may fall “slightly” and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.

In the outlook for the next 72 hours, the Meteorological Department forecasted that the rain or thundershowers activity may “decrease” at the end period.

Meteorologist Md. Tariful Newaz Kabir ‍said in the weather bulletin that a trough of low has lied over West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. As a result, the seasonal low is being lied over South Bay.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6°C yesterday at Mongla in the Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 20.3°C in the Sylhet division.

Today’s sunset will be at 6:27 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:23 am.
