RAB is ready to deal with any untoward situation centering on the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, said RAB Director General (DG) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.

He said this while inspecting the security arrangements of the National Eidgah on Sunday morning.

The RAB has beefed up surveillance across the country to ensure overall security during Eid-ul-Fitr, the Director General said.

He said a sufficient number of RAB members have been deployed in their respective areas to strengthen security. Sweeping will be done by RAB Bomb Disposal Unit and Dog Squad at various places including National Eidgah and important Eidgah of the country.

Besides, for overall security, there will be a RAB control room, striking reserve, foot and mobile patrol, vehicle scanner, observation post, check post and CCTV monitoring system.

A checkpost has been set up at the bus stand, railway station, launch terminal and temporary RAB camp for the safety of homebound people on Eid.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said steps have been taken to curb various harassing activities including extortion on roads and waterways, extra fares and carrying passengers. RAB has also taken steps to curb the activities of Ajnaan Party, Malam Party or snatchers and against ticket black marketeers.

He said the commando team of RAB’s special forces has been kept ready at all times to deal with any sabotage and attack. There is also a full-time helicopter system ready. The law and order situation is also being monitored in the payment of salaries and bonuses to garment workers across the country.

Mentioning that a hotline has been opened by the RAB to provide any information, the RAB Director General said a hotline has been opened by the headquarters (01777720029).

“Analyzing intelligence, cyber monitoring and other information, no specific information about any attack centered on Eid was found. RAB is ready to thwart any sabotage plan by increasing intelligence surveillance and cyber monitoring,” he added.

In the virtual world, the RAB’s cyber monitoring team will continue to monitor online to prevent any kind of rumors, provocative information, and spreading false information about Eid.
