Former Finance Minister Muhith’s body on way to Sylhet

After the second Namaz-e-Janaza at the Central Mosque of Dhaka University (DU), the body of former Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has left for Sylhet.
His body was brought to Central Shaheed Minar at 12:30 pm after his first Namaz-e-Janaza in the capital’s Gulshan on Saturday. His body was kept there to pay homage to people of all walks of life. Later, after the second Namaz-e-Janaza at the Central Jame Mosque in DU, his body was taken to Banani resident. From there, Muhith’s body was taken to Sylhet.
President’s Military Secretary Major SM Salahuddin Islam on behalf of President M Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister’s Military Secretary Brigadier General Kabir Ahmed on behalf of the Prime Minister, Sergeant at Arms Comrade M Naeem Rahman on behalf of the Speaker, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on behalf of the party, Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak, Matia Chowdhury, DU Vice-Chancellor Akhtaruzzaman, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, JSD’s Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Memon of the Workers Party of Bangladesh, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, and other general people paid homage.
After paying his respects at the Central Shaheed Minar, former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has played an important role in enriching the economy of Bangladesh. The steps were taken by him, and the plan will show the way for the development of the country in the future as well.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said his knowledge was vast. He was immersed in the practice of knowledge and work. As a successful Finance Minister and economist, he is a symbol of honesty.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said his death had caused irreparable damage to the country. The new generation should learn from his long and colorful career.
Rashed Khan Menon said Dr. Muhith is a rare personality. He has taken an effective and scientific decisions for the economy of the country.
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, younger brother of former Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, said after taking him (Muhith) to Sylhet, another Namaz-e-Janaza will be held. He will then be buried next to his parents in the family graveyard at Saheb Bari in Rainagar.
