After being closed for the last two years due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation, this time a Mangal Shovajatra (procession) has been organized for the Bengali New Year-1429.

The traditional Mangal Shovajatra was brought out at 9 am on Thursday, led by Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, from the premises of TSC Raju Memorial Sculpture in the capital.

This Mangal Shovajatra circling Memory Eternal – located at DU’s Nilkhet road – and will end at TSC in the capital. This time the procession is being held in person.

In the procession, various issues of symbolic presentation of recent events along with the history and tradition of Bangalee have been included. University teachers, students, and people of different levels spontaneously took part in it.

This time the slogan of the Mangal Shovajatra declared by UNESCO as ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity’ is – “Purify and Wipe Away the Dirty Meaning.”

Meanwhile, a large number of law enforcers have been deployed in the procession to avoid any untoward incidents. The whole area is wrapped in a tight security blanket.
