Motorcyclist killed in capital road crash

A motorcyclist was killed as an oil-laden lorry run over him in the capital's Banasree area.

The accident took place in front of Faraji Hospital of Banasree around 6:30 am on Friday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Md. Abu Naser (38), son of Abu Taher of Maniknagar Eidgah field area of Sonaimuri of Noakhali. He was the manager of Chittagong Bull Hotel in Rampura.

Rampura thana SI Shahriar Hossain confirmed the matter, saying the motorcyclist was hit by an oil-laden lorry on the way to the front of the hospital. He fell to the ground and was crushed on the wheel of the lorry.

He was later rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The body was kept in the DMC Hospital morgue. The oil tanker was seized in the incident. The driver and helper have been taken into police custody, said.
