The country’s first Metro Rail is visible by another line. The dream went one step further. With the installation of the last span at the part in Uttara-Diabari to Motijheel in the capital, the work of span for the first part of Metro Rail has been completed.
The span was installed on the connecting pillars 582-583 adjacent to Bangladesh Secretariat Metro Rail Station in the capital on Thursday. However, work is still underway to install railways on the spans.
Asked about the last span, Japanese Security Consultant Kan Simuzu said it is certainly a pleasure. But our work does not end here. There is still a lot of work to be done. The work of the station also has to start quickly.
The Metro Rail project was adopted in 2012 to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka and make the commute of city dwellers comfortable and uninterrupted. The length of the project will be 20.1 km from Diabari in Uttara to Motijheel. In other words, millions of city dwellers living in this area will be able to travel to their destinations using the Metro Rail.
In this project, 24 sets of trains will run. Each train will have 6 cars. It will run at a speed of 100 kmph with passengers.
