Offices to function at 50pc capacity from tomorrow

All public and private offices in the country have been asked to run at 50 percent capacity from tomorrow (Monday) in compliance with the health rules following the surge of coronavirus cases. The other half of the body will work online at home.

The government has taken this decision to control corona infection, said in a gazette notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Sunday.

The notification state that from January 24 (Monday) to February 6 (Sunday) the following conditions and restrictions should be followed by all.

> All government / semi-government / autonomous/private offices should be run with half number of officers/employees following health rules. Other officers/employees will be stationed at their workplace and will carry out office activities virtually (e-documents, e-tendering, e-mail, SMS, WhatsApp and other mediums).

> Bangladesh Supreme Court will issue necessary directions regarding courts.

> Bangladesh Bank and Financial Institutions Department will take necessary steps regarding banks/insurance and financial institutions.

Meanwhile, Directorate of Health Service said that a community transmission of the South African variant of Corona Omicron had occurred in the country. At the same time, the company has warned that Omicron is gradually taking the place of the Delta variant.

Md. Nazmul Islam said in a regular briefing today that Omicron infection turns into community transmission. As we see, Omicron is slowly taking over the delta space.
